The Recursive Trap: Agent-Based Language

I keep saying "the organism decides" and "consciousness arrives late" and "the fascia communicates." But every time I use subject-verb-object grammar, I'm creating the very homunculus I'd like to downplay. The organism doing something implies there's an agent called ‘organism’ making choices. Consciousness arrives suggests a little consciousness-being traveling through time. Even distributed intelligence still sounds like intelligence is a thing that gets distributed by someone.

(@#! language. I don't know whether it is an English limitation, though I am ready to believe English is worse at this than some other languages; or whether it is symbolic thinking itself that will always take us here... Either way, here we are, communicating with English, as best we can.)
