Cultural Blind Spots in What You Notice
You probably use both visual and auditory processing styles; but if you're North American or European, you're likely much less appreciative of your auditory-ish skills. You may not even be aware of what they do for you. The reverse is true for East Asians: they use focal, analytic processing, but may not give it credit or develop it fully. This isn't about one culture being better. It's about noticing that your cultural context shapes which processing architectures you trust, value, and consciously develop, versus which ones operate in the background unappreciated. It isn't only about what you notice, but what you notice yourself noticing – attribution.
