Once you catch yourself listening to the stove (rather than believing that it is all about looking) and give the listening credit in real time, you can play with leaning into the listening more. Just to see what happens. You might notice more variations in the sizzle. You might trust the sound information more and check the pan less often. Or, you might realize you're forcing visual processing for something that works better auditorily. Expansion is just having the option to use what you've named. The capacity is already there – you're just not defaulting past it anymore.
