The You-Within-You (Homunculus)

Consciousness feels like a 'little you' sitting inside your head, watching the world through your eyes as if on a theatre screen. But there is no theatre, no audience, no little homunculus sitting at the controls. This illusion – the feeling that there's a "you" inside watching – is one of consciousness's core delusions about itself. The poor old homunculus has an infinite regress problem. (And you'll notice it does keep coming up!)
