For Your First Class
The best is to go slow and easy and find pleasure — the pleasure is very useful. My favorite kind of feedback.
Let me know anything about yourself that you would like me to have as background of my mind (or foreground!) as I teach.
If you can, avoid wearing all black — stripes or plaids are my favorite for seeing how you move. (Yes, pajama pants work great!) You'll be on your back much of the time so test your camera before the class — if you focus it on your mat that's an easy way to figure the angles out ahead of time. And if you place your mat slightly diagonal to the camera, even better yet! Slow me down if I speak too fast! Just wave at me. The best prop is a set of folded towels for under your head or other place that needs support — usually you will find you don't need the support so much as you go along, and you can just lower the towels by unfolding them, and proceed. Of course, along the way, some prop you have that would make for comfort and easier and better learning might come to mind — so use it! And then maybe you'll find that you don't use it. The point is to move in such a way that you improve your awareness — and that starts with comfort and safety.
