The Lumbar for Support, the Thoracic for Rotation

Yes, the lumbar can rotate. And yes, I say a lot about never telling you the right way to do things. But I really wish you would use your thoracic (or your pelvis) for rotation more than your lumbar. People stop rotating in the thoracic because they stop thinking of the ribs as being flexible. Give yourself that back!!! When your image of your 'rib cage' stiffens up, you lose so much. You over-use your lumbar. Your breathing apparatus is constrained. Your shoulder girdle can't dance so well. Your neck gets cranky. The thoracic spine is good at rotation and your whole chest needs it to rotate. See if you can feel the difference — not because I told you it's better, but because your own chest might have an opinion about it.
