The Breath as Tell

Of course your breath is a great tell for how you are doing generally. Check in; don't fix; attend to your breath. Sense if it spontaneously shifts just from your friendly attention. The breath can also be a very specific tell if it hitches as you go to do a specific move. There are some interesting exceptions to this rule, but mostly: it is a good sign if your breathing continues smoothly even as you make an effort. This is particularly true in Feldenkrais movement lessons — use a hitch in the breath as a suggestion there might be something worth paying attention to. Notice how you organize yourself. Pay attention by slowing down, doing less, pausing before repeating or — perhaps the best — just imagining the move and only actually doing it once you have it fully in your attention (and then imagine it more robustly with your new data and do it again...) Attend to your breath: it will tell you a lot.
