Peripheral Vision Loss with Age for 3 Possible Reasons

Peripheral vision loss with age is complicated because there are three possible reasons for it: is the eyeball sending the data up? Is the brain able to process it? And does the person actually "want" it? Hardware, wetware, preferences and habits. To complicate the picture, how we humans use our eyes has changed a lot in the past decades, and that little cell phone—or really any screen—is probably responsible for accelerating peripheral vision loss. Progressive lenses are death to peripheral vision. We do know that, for whatever reason, we use our peripheral skills less as we get older. We also know that peripheral vision loss is a big factor in dementia. Importantly, if peripheral vision loss includes some type of conscious or unconscious choice, I want to hold out the possibility that that choice can make sense, even if it comes at a price.
