Subjectivity Is Sacred?
When I advocate for greater respect for subjective data — you bearing witness to yourself — I don't mean subjectivity is sacred. I'll point to a lot of flaws in subjective data as this navigation site grows. There's a deeper attitude issue here, too. My bias is that everything needs refining, nearly everything benefits from ground-truthing, and yes, the ground-truthing needs to be taken with some skepticism as well. I feel that there is a lot to be said for 'instinct.' We lose out if we don't listen to that channel. But 'listen,' not drink the kool aid. Wisdom is a mix of things, not an adulation. And to treat subjectivity as sacred would just be the flip side of the mistake of treating internal sensing as inherently wrong.
