Simple Lesson: Moving the Ground Backwards
Feldenkraisers are always looking for ways to intrigue you, to seduce your mind, maybe even to melt it a little bit. Here's a great one: as you walk, pay attention to how you push off from the front of your foot. (Hint: this requires you to actually bend at the ankle.) After you have gotten a feel for this, pause, then walk as though the intention were to move the earth backwards more so than to move yourself forwards. You could even think of yourself as kicking a bit of earth behind you as you go. A prancey step can help and a playful attitude certainly helps. How does this feel? Go back to a forward-going emphasis and compare.
