Sensing Pressure Gradients

One intriguing way to bring attention to yourself is to think of the pressures you maintain. Think of yourself as mostly water — which you are — and feel yourself as the texture of that water. Some places it is soft water and some places it is pressurized water and some places it is so pressurized as to actually be hard. You could also think of your organismic system's function as 'keep all the units at their appropriate pressure.' You could think of effort as the act of changing the texture of the water in you. I don't know whether this water-pressure perspective works (for some people) because it is novel, or because it is especially insightful, but try it — see whether you notice your allocation of tension more readily somehow when you think about it as pressure compartments affecting the texture of the water in you.
