First-Person Data *Are* Data
Feldenkrais is about enhancing your ability to sense yourself, the space you inhabit, how you move through that space and how you connect with others. (Though it isn't yet very good at the last one.) It takes people through variations in movement and gradations of precise sensing, in order to refine and reorganize that movement, but most of all to expand the repertoire of moves: a broader repertoire, greater finesse in executing it and a better appreciation for each move's strength or weakness. That's all first-person data. It is qualitative. It is… that horrible word, 'subjective.' And it is utterly necessary. Rather than tossing it out as unscientific, Feldenkrais looks for ways to improve it.
