Same Equipment, Different Funding
The 2021 shamanic drumming study (Huels et al., Frontiers in Human Neuroscience) used the same high-density EEG setup as meditation studies: same electrodes, same recording protocols, same frequency analysis, same 25-minute sessions. The cost would have been identical – maybe $5,000-$10,000 for equipment time and analysis. A didgeridoo study would cost the same. You'd need the instrument (a few hundred dollars), some practitioners willing to participate, an EEG lab (which every major university has), and about 10-15 hours of a graduate student's time for data processing. The methodology is already established. The analysis software exists. This isn't rocket science. It's the exact same research protocol we've run hundreds of times for meditation. Someone just has to decide it's worth funding. (And while they are at it, please research brain alterations from a Feldenkrais movement lesson.)
