Didgeridoo Gets Zero Studies
The didgeridoo has been used in Aboriginal healing practices for at least 1,500 years, possibly much longer. It's one of the world's oldest instruments. Players and listeners report profound effects: trance states, emotional release, somatic shifts. Vibroacoustic therapy (using low-frequency vibrations for healing) is an established field with dozens of studies. The didgeridoo produces exactly those frequencies. And yet: there are no rigorous neurological studies on didgeridoo and brain activity in PubMed. Neither are there EEG investigations or clinical trials. (What does this have to do with Feldenkrais? Nothing. But it does have to do with the 'if you don't study it, it doesn't exist' feature of 20th century science; and it frustrates me that Feldenkrais, like didgeridoo, has so little research.)
